The most common mistake when buying a sofa support board is choosing the wrong width. Order too narrow and the board won't support the full seat depth. Order correctly and you'll feel the difference immediately.
What You're Actually Measuring
The width of the board corresponds to the depth of your sofa seat — measured from the front edge of the seat to where the back cushion begins. The board's length (72″) runs across the sofa from side to side.
⚠️ Common Confusion: People often confuse "board width" with "sofa width." The board width = your sofa's seat DEPTH (front to back). The board length = your sofa's seat WIDTH (side to side). Measure depth to choose your size.
How to Measure in 60 Seconds
- Remove all seat cushions from your sofa
- Measure from the front edge of the seat frame to the back (where the back cushion sits)
- That measurement is your sofa seat depth — match it to the board width below

What About the Board Length?
The board length (72″) runs side-to-side across your sofa. All boards fold to fit sofas from 58″ to 72″ wide. If your sofa is shorter than 72 inches, the board folds to fit. If it's wider than 72 inches, you may need two boards placed end-to-end.
✅ When in Doubt, Go Larger: If your measurement falls between two sizes, always choose the larger board. A board that's slightly wider than your seat depth is fine — it just means a small amount tucks under the back cushion. A board that's too narrow won't provide full support.
